Urban Planning: 61,000 sqm
Tel-Aviv, Israel. 2012.
Urban planning that encourages the local residents to participate in the design and the execution by presenting it as a Monopoly game.
Almost all of the construction in the neighborhood is illegal, and most of the residents come from disadvantaged populations. The project’s purpose was to normalize and organize this neglected neighborhood and bring about a plan that will develop legal, just and forward thinking construction many of the neighborhood’s residents own land rights that cannot be realized because of the chaotic, illegal nature of the existing structures. One of our goals was to ensure that these people have space to build their homes. The two main issues were how to generate new urban clusters and types that will match the unauthorized construction, and how to allow the neighborhood to grow.
